Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The After School Academic Assistance Program (ASAAP) is a voluntary program for North students to receive tutoring after the normal school day. Select teachers stay to aid students with current coursework and reteach learning targets.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of the Eau Claire Area School District and North High School is to educate our children in partnership with the family and the community to live responsible, creative and fulfilling lives in a rapidly changing world.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Qualified volunteers should have a firm grasp on Algebra I, Geometry, and English writing conventions.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Student volunteers will learn to communicate effectively with high school students and reteach core content in an individual or small group setting.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer ASAAP will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3PM - 4:30PM with possibility to expand and include Mondays.

Answer Volunteers can join at any point during the school year.
