Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Volunteer in our Ski/Snowshoe Rental Room! Help us expand winter recreation opportunities in the Chippewa Valley.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Connecting people with nature

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Communication and interpersonal skills when checking folks in and out and completing rental forms. Organizational skills to take inventory and keep the room clean. The ability to work with a variety of age groups, including children. Training is required. Ski and snowshoe experience is not required.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Learn how to communicate and assist a diverse group of folks. Provide winter recreational opportunities and encourage people to connect with nature.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Shifts start when there is enough snow to ski and snowshoe. Availability for weekend shifts: full days, 9:00 AM-4:00 PM, or half days, 9:00 AM-12:30 PM or 12:30-4:00 PM, Fridays and Saturdays, and 12:00-4:00 PM on Sundays. Training is required and will be held Wednesday, December 11th, 2-3 PM. If you cannot attend, please set up a time to be trained during Beaver Creek Reserve's open hours.
