Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer UWGCV currently distributes funding over a 3-year grant cycle. Area non-profits apply for this funding and are guaranteed this funding for that period. The only down side to this is that our funding is tied up for 3 years and we are not able to help with the small things that come during that time frame. Small Acts Grants (open to name change) will address those needs more quickly while allowing us to continue to address the needs of the Chippewa Valley. We will take $50,000 a year and allow non-profits, civic groups, churches, and school groups to apply. We also would hope that corporate partners would come along and potentially match the donation that we are making to these organizations. Application needs to be created, policies need to be created, a group of people to review the applications needs to be formed as well.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Mission We improve lives and build stronger Chippewa Valley communities by bringing resources together to advance the common good.

3.

What skills are required for this project?

Answer Someone with an open mind, excellent communication skills, computer skills, basic knowledge of the Chippewa Valley, its needs, and non-profits that serve the people.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer The objective is either to finish the project so it can be implemented for our next grant cycle on 7/1/2025, or lay the groundwork so staff are able to finish the project. This project will serve the over 113,000 people that UWGCV serves across the Chippewa Valley.
