Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Create short STEAM/STEM activities for grades 3 to 6 for our SCI-Friday social media posts. These activities are shared with out-of-school time professionals to incorporate into their OST program. Project objectives: 6 to 8 activities Locations: Online Estimated time 20 to 30 hours. We are looking for multiple students for this project.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The Center for Community Health Advancement (CCHA) at Marshfield Clinic Health System collaborates with community partners to address local health needs. Our team of health educators, experts, and volunteers assess needs, identify gaps, develop and implement evidence-based programs, and evaluate their effectiveness.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Creativity: To come up with fun and engaging activities. Teamwork: To collaborate with professionals. Communication: To share ideas and explain activities clearly. Time Management: To balance this project with other commitments. Problem-Solving: To find solutions and improve activities. Digital Literacy: To use online tools and social media effectively.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Project objectives: Student will create 6 to 8 short, easy, STEM activities that will be highlighted on our STEM resource page and will be showcased on our SCI-Fri social media posts each Friday of the month. Locations: Online Estimated time 20 to 30 hours. We are looking for multiple students for this project.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Students will work online to complete activities. Reach out to the supervisor before activities are created and then again once activities are complete. An activity template will be provided so students will know what needs to be part of each short activity. Example activities will also be provided.
