Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The YMCA Sports Center will be hosting our 19th annual Healthy Kids Expo. This event is one of the largest Family marketplaces where they can find new opportunities for their children and family. This will be our first year we will be able to make it free for families. We are in need of volunteers to help with planning, organizing and implementing the event. The day of the event hours would be 8am-4pm. Event is from 11am-3pm. The day of the event we would need help with set up, help supervising inflatables and gymnastics area and tear down. Additional 7 hours can be provided through the planning and implementing process of the event.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Our YMCA mission is to empower young people and communities worldwide to build a just, sustainable, equitable and inclusive world, where every person can thrive in body, mind and spirit.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer -Personable skills in order to gauge and interact with families and kids. - Positive attitude - Hard worker and ability to see what needs to be done.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer -Develop understanding of the YMCA's mission and vision and how these events and programs help -Gain understanding on how volunteers can help tremendously in these events.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer April 6- 8am-4pm Availability before event depending on student availability.
