Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Nature Nuts is a week long summer camp for kids in grades K-6. The role of a volunteer is to lead groups between activities, hand out snacks, and assist with games, crafts, and nature hikes. We rely on volunteers to ensure campers can safely learn and explore in the outdoors!

Answer Connecting people with nature

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Strong communication skills with children and adults. The ability to work with a diverse group of people. Enthusiasm for outdoor education and recreation. Creativity and imagination. Leadership.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Objectives for the student learning and serving is to create opportunities for children to learn about nature and explore their environment! The service learning student will use leadership and communication skills to keep campers safe and focused on activities.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer A required Volunteer Training is scheduled for Monday, June 9th from 9-11 AM. Nature Nuts will take place Monday, June 16 through Friday, June 20. The daily schedule includes both a morning session (9-11:30 AM) and an afternoon session (1-3:30).
