Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer During move out we see many items that are thrown away that could be reused, repurposed, or recycled. This event will help limit items that are thrown away that could be reused. Students will monitor items that are dropped off from residence hall students at the end of the year. These items will be available for other students to pick up and use in their own rooms. There will also be items collected for donations such as clothing, non-perishable foods, school supplies, and toiletries. This items will be given to campus/ local organizations to benefit others.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer During Move Out, the mission of Housing and Residence Life is to continue to provide good customer service while supporting sustainability initiatives for both the campus and community

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Organization, time management, customer service

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Students will learn benefit of participating in a campus sustainability initiative can benefit the community. Student will be able to identify items that are able to be reused or donated instead of going to a landfill.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Have 15 or 30 or hours available between May 10 and May 24. Shifts would be between noon and 7pm from May 10-17 and more flexible from May 19-24 2025.

Answer If students live on campus, students may ask about extending their housing until the end of the project.
