Service-Learning Proposal Description

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The project involves recruiting volunteers to support Wisconsin Public Radio's presence at the Blue Ox Music Festival. By engaging with festival attendees, volunteers help raise awareness of WPR’s programming and build relationships with new and diverse audiences. This outreach addresses the community need for increased access to trusted local media and fosters deeper community connections through music, conversation, and public service.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Inform, inspire and engage the people of Wisconsin through high-quality journalism, music and storytelling. WPR is committed to providing trusted news, meaningful cultural programming, and opportunities for lifelong learning that reflect the diverse voices and needs of the communities it serves

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Strong communication skills, Friendly and approachable demeanor, dependability, basic event support skills, enthusiasm for public radio and community engagement

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Student learning objectives: develop communication and outreach skills, gain experience in event support and public engagement, build an understanding of nonprofit and media organizations, enhance teamwork and professionalism Service objectives: Support WPR's community outreach efforts, foster community connections, contribute to a successful festival experience,

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Any time during 11 am - 7 pm during the three day music festival June 26-28
