Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer We are seeking motivated UWEC students to volunteer as Wellness Assistants in our health and wellness facility. This role provides hands-on experience in operating cutting-edge wellness devices such as PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy), Alpha-Stim, ReVibe Braintap, and infrared therapy. Volunteers will gain valuable skills in patient check-in procedures, device operation, and clinical documentation.

Answer Evolving Wellness empowers individuals on their health journeys by promoting a holistic lifestyle of wellness—encouraging them to become well, be well, and stay well. Through our Collaborative Community Care model, we provide an innovative alternative in health and wellness services. By fostering collaboration among a diverse range of practitioners and emphasizing the importance of education, we address the body, mind, and spirit needs of each individual, ensuring comprehensive support for those seeking to enhance their overall well-being.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Learning Objectives for Volunteer Wellness Assistant Operate Wellness Devices: Demonstrate the ability to safely and effectively operate devices such as PEMF, Alpha-Stim, ReVibe Braintap, and infrared therapy equipment under supervision within the first [insert timeframe] of training. Patient Check-In and Assistance: Provide courteous and efficient check-in services to clients, ensuring a welcoming environment, and assist clients in preparing for their sessions. Clinical Documentation: Accurately observe and record client sessions by taking SOAP notes, demonstrating an understanding of basic clinical documentation standards. Patient Interaction and Communication: Develop effective communication skills by explaining procedures and answering client questions in a professional and empathetic manner. Understanding Wellness Protocols: Gain foundational knowledge of wellness therapies, their benefits, and protocols through hands-on experience and supervised training. Professional Development: Enhance professional skills such as responsibility, confidentiality, and teamwork, preparing for future careers in healthcare or wellness fields. Safety and Protocol Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and protocols during device operation and client interactions, ensuring a safe environment for clients and staff.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Greet and check in clients/patients in a friendly and professional manner. Assist clients with using wellness devices safely and effectively under supervision. Learn and operate devices such as PEMF, Alpha-Stim, ReVibe Braintap, and infrared therapy equipment. Observe and support client sessions, ensuring comfort and adherence to protocols. Document client sessions and interactions by taking SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan) notes accurately. Maintain a clean and organized treatment environment. Follow all safety and confidentiality procedures in accordance with clinic policies
