Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community to be addressed.
Answer A semi load of food arrives at 2:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month. Volunteers are needed to assist in unpacking, and setup of products. Once the food is ready, volunteers are needed to "gather" the products in a wagon and take the wagon load outside to be loaded into the guests vehicles. Volunteers are needed inside and outside - dress appropriately for weather. No open-toed shoes are allowed. The community need to be addressed is food insecurity and helping guests be able to obtain food and make them feel welcome.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?
Answer To assist our guests in obtaining food and making them feel welcome at our facility.

3.

What skills are required for this project?
Answer Able to follow directions, some to lift at least 10 lb. and others to lift up to 40 lb., a friendly smile.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?
Answer For students to serve the public - all walks of life, to work in coordination with many others as a team player, be a leader if needed.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?
Answer Available anytime from 2-6:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month. Wear comfortable clothes, and appropriate for walking and lifting, no open-toed shoes.

Answer We truly appreciate having students come and help with our guests. You can come anytime during the 2-6:30 p.m. time and stay as long as you can.
