Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The nature of the project is to assist in the library. Volunteers in our library are critical to the success of our program. They assist with checking books and other materials in and out. They shelve books and other materials. They keep sections of books in order. They help with decorating and other tasks as they occur.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer It is the mission of the Lakeshore Community of Learners to educate a divers population of children through a string literacy program to become critical thinkers and responsible participants in a changing world by working in partnership with the family and greater community.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer The students who wish to volunteer in the Lakeshore library must be positive, diligent, and good role models for the elementary students in the building. There are no real availability requirements.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer The students who assist in our library will have the opportunity to promote student learning for a very diverse student population by helping to maintain the services offered by the library media center. The students will learn about the processes involved in the running of a school library in a large elementary school as well as observe and assist the media specialist and the students.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Students can arrange hours that are convenient for them with the media specialist.
