Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Comprehensive Community Services is a statewide program serving those with Mental Illness. Provide assistance for an individual whose basement needs to be cleared from items her husband hoarded when he was still living. Remove items from basement so homeowner has a safe area to do her laundry. There may be a few items that the homeowner would like to keep, the rest need to be removed and placed in a dumpster provided by a landlord.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer To work together with families and individuals in order to sustain and enhance their full participation in the community.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Interact with an individual with caring and compassion, Lift up to 40 pounds, walk up and down stairs carrying items.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer -Provide service for Senior involved in the Comprehensive Community Services Program. -Assist in decreasing anxiety of and elderly woman -Learn extent of hoarding and the mental health problems it can cause


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer We are no longer looking for students, but are keeping this open for students to complete their applications.


Additional information (not required).

Answer Project will be complete when all items are removed from the basement. Job should be completed within 15 hours, (2 days, 7.5 hours per day) Breaks can be taken to spend time with the individual the students are helping. If interested, please call Janet at 715-495-1204
