Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Education in rural areas of Thailand is resource-lacking and sometimes ineffective because of teacher capability. English is acknowledged as a global language and therefore an education in English is highly sought after. There is a need for more intuitive ways to learn the language as well as expose schoolchildren in rural areas to other countries and cultures that they wouldn't have the opportunity to do so otherwise.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer AIESEC's mission is to enable young people to develop their leadership skills both professionally and personally through practical experiences in cross-cultural environments. We strive to achieve peace and fulfillment of humankind's potential by bringing out the best in people in immersive experiences around the world.

3.

What skills are required for this project?

Answer Language Teaching Self-Awareness

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer 1. To create standard teaching materials and activities for 7-18 year old students 2. To encourage Thai students, teachers, and local people to speak English with limited teaching materials by acting and thinking outside of the box 3. To learn and live with local people in a rural area of Thailand 4. Experience other cultures by attending the Global Village event as well as the English Day event in the school for students to know more about the country and broaden their perspectives of the world

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer 8 AM - 4 PM, Monday - Friday, June 14 - July 27

6.

Additional information (not required).

Answer Non-Immigrant Type O visa is required. More information on the visa process will be given after opportunity interview with AIESEC members in Thailand.
