Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer In this position you will work closely with Junior Achievement's Marketing and Development Manager in updating and creating promotional materials for special events and programming events. The community need to be addressed is: To inspire and prepare K-12 students to succeed in a global economy.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Junior Achievement of Wisconsin - Northwest Area is a non-profit organization that presents economic life skills through hands-on education programs to area youth. JA recruits business volunteers to present hands-on programs to area students throughout the school year. The organization’s purpose is to inspire and prepare K-12th grade students to succeed in a global economy.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Working Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop or other free online desktop publishing programs.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Design attractive and informative event materials to include flyers, social media graphics and event brochure. The intern will receive hands on experience while creating pieces that can be include in their portfolio.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer The scheduling for this is flexible, the student needs to log at least 30 hours over the semester. Project work could be conducted on their own time using their own computer or a UWEC computer that has the Adobe InDesign Creative Suite program.
