Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The student will work with the Choir director in organizing community events for a community Gospel and Hip Hop Choir. The CollECtive Choir uses exuberant music to proclaim the praise of Jesus Christ in the public arena. The Choir builds bridges of reconciliation between multiple rifts in our city: economic, social, racial, familial, generational and denominational.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Mission: "CollECtively proclaim Jesus through exuberant praise" Vision: "We are a diverse Gospel and hip hop choir displaying oneness in Christ. We invite all people to experience the life-changing love of Jesus.”


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Some experience with project management is a plus, but not required. Good communication, public relation, and organization skills required. Proactivity and inquisitiveness also suggested.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Students will learn hands-on what is all required in planning and coordinating public events involving multiple organizations. They see the impact on both the participating groups and the general public from well coordinated faith-based events.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Hours are flexible, some early mornings, weekend hours, and evenings required.
