Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The Community Table nourishes hungry bodies and spirits in the Eau Claire Community by serving one meal each day, 365 days a year on a no-questions asked basis. Volunteers make this mission of abating food insecurity possible by preparing, serving, and cleaning up from our daily meals.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The Community Table’s Mission is to serve balanced, nutritious meals in a safe, welcoming environment and to connect those in need with existing resources. We do this by engaging diverse volunteers in service and by fostering partnerships with local organizations. TCT also enlightens the public to issues of hunger in our community; and supports efforts of community agencies to increase the self-reliance of individuals and families.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer No skills necessary - we have an on-site kitchen coordinator to guide the volunteers in preparing, serving, and cleaning up from our daily meals.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Students will learn about food insecurity in the Eau Claire area and the resources provided.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Mon/Wed/Thu/Sat: 9-2 Tue/Fri: 3-7 Sunday: 1-5 Additional hours for special projects and events
