Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community to be addressed.
Answer Students will work with the Community Relations Intern to create a campaign for the greater Eau Claire Community focusing on Domestic Violence, Teen Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, Child Abuse, and/or Stalking Awareness. There are few restrictions on the project, so your imagination is a key aspect! This project can be done within a group, or by an individual. This project will give you experience in carrying out a project from inception to completion!


What is the mission of the agency or organization?
Answer Bolton Refuge House Inc. creates safe space through programs and services for all persons impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault, and advocates for social change.


What skills are required for this project?
Answer "-Organization skills -Knowledge of or willingness to learn about interpersonal violence issues -Desire to promote awareness of controversial topics -Public Speaking"


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?
Answer "The volunteer(s) working on this program will: - Learn about the dynamics of interpersonal and family violence issues - Communicate with media outlets, partner agencies, community resources, etc - Plan and carry out awareness campaign(s) about controversial issues that impact the community - Work with a dynamic team to solve problems and create effective material This project will encompass providing a service to the Eau Claire Community, working with individuals and groups, and putting intellectual knowledge into action by designing and implementing a new program. This would be an exciting project for anyone who is interested in feminist issues, working with children and teenagers, or increasing the general health and well-being of the community."


What are the availability requirements for the student?
Answer It would be best if students are available 2-5 hours per week or more.
