Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The Free Clinic is looking for experienced medical lab technicians to volunteer during our Tuesday evening clinics 1x a month. Volunteer Lab Techs will draw and label samples from patients, complete some tests in house, complete forms that correspond with tests to go to other labs, and drop off necessary samples to either Sacred Heart Hospital or Mayo Clinic Health System at the end of the shift. Training will be provided.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Our Mission The mission of the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic is to provide quality health care and advocacy for individuals of the Chippewa Valley who have no reasonable health care alternative.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Experience as a phlebotomist, detail orientation, excellent communication skills.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Serve the needs medical lab needs of low-income community members and Chippewa Valley Free Clinic Patients.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer A minimum of 1 Tuesday evening (5pm-8pm) per month for at least 9 months.
