Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Support to Residential Hospice House / Desk responsibilities phones, tours, deliveries. Kitchen support / Laundry support and attending to house family areas when needed. The community need to be addressed is to focus on whole person care at end of life: Meeting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Allina Health Hospice focuses on Whole person care at end of life: Meeting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Must be 18 years of age, access to email, own transportation, able to do light lifting and light housework on sight. Interpersonal and Customer Service related skills such as answering phones and giving tours to families


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer To build experiences in a Hospice Residential Setting, to interact with and support patients and families in a supportive role that also offers support to staff. To work as part of a hospice team towards patient/family goals by contributing to the environment as a volunteer. Building your resume for future career goals.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Weekend shifts at least 1 or more shifts per month. Shifts are 9-1pm, 1-5pm and 5-8pm. Some week night Thursday or Friday pm shifts may also be available
