Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Sojourner House needs a videographer to capture a 2-3 minute video clip that describes and markets Sojourner House's mission and how our volunteers play an instrumental part in striving towards that mission. Sojourner House is needing such a video clip for our annual Volunteer appreciation event in April. The community need to be addressed is to promote human dignity by alleviating poverty and strengthening individuals and families.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Catholic Charities of the Diocese of La Crosse proclaims Christ’s Gospel of Life and promotes human dignity by alleviating poverty and strengthening individuals and families.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Volunteers for this project will need: - Skill operating a camera. - Skill editing video. - An aptitude for effective marketing.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Student volunteers will learn: - How to professionally film business operations. - How to professionally edit a video used for marketing. - How to persuade a people using effective rhetoric. - How to effectively communicate with clients to reach the desired result of product.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer - Attend and film shelter between 6:30pm -8:30pm. - Attend and film special events. - Attend and film some morning shifts between 5:30am-8am.

Additional information (not required).

Answer Must be 18 or older to volunteer. Our facility is conveniently located within walking distance of campus. We welcome EVERYONE in our shelter. Volunteers personal equipment to be used by volunteer for project appreciated, but can be negotiated.
