Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Parents’ Night Out is a fun program that gives parents a chance to enjoy some time to themselves while the kids have a blast here at the Y! There’s pizza, pool time, movies, games, crafts, and so many other possibilities! The Parents’ Night Out leader will; organize activities for the kids, help set up and clean up, check kids in with a provided roster, help staff with pool time and other activities, and other related duties as assigned.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer To put Christian principles into practice through programs that help healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Core Values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Skills required are; organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal skills, reliability, and punctuality. Each participant must communicate well with members of the community, and work well with kids.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer The Parents’ Night Out leader will; organize activities for the kids, help set up and clean up, check kids in with a provided roster, help staff with pool time and other activities, and other related duties as assigned.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Student must be present for each Parents’ Night Out event that they are in charge of, coming in early to set up and possibly staying later to clean up. Additional hours will be accrued when planning for the events, during times that work for the student’s schedule. Parents' Night Out events are currently scheduled for the first and third Saturdays of each month - attendance is not required at each event, but an established schedule will be required.
