Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community to be addressed.
Answer "Students interested in homework assistance will have the opportunity to assist Club members in both the youth (3rd-5th grade) and teen (6th grade above) program. Club members are often in need of assistance in math, reading, science and history, with older members also needing assistance with computer needs. Club members most in need are those coming from low income or socioeconomic situations and need help practicing good study habits and positive boundaries and support. Students interested in homework assistance are welcome to volunteer Monday-Friday 3:00-5:30 pm running a homework room for Club members immediately following afternoon snack until dinner. "


What is the mission of the agency or organization?
Answer To Inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.


What skills are required for this project?
Answer Students will have the opportunity to practice the following skills: patience, individual learning plans from schools and families, thinking outside the box on how to explain academic work in a fun and exciting way and strong positive boundaries.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?
Answer Objective for homework tutors are to practice various ways to encourage and impact youth and teens, practicing flexibility, showing strong positive boundaries, ability to show kind, caring and respectful behavior


What are the availability requirements for the student?
Answer Any time available Monday-Friday from 3:30-6:30 pm
