Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The Jam is a life-giving music community for teens in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. This project is to maintain and improve upon the web page for The Jam in order to maximize our operational efficiency and more effectively reach our youth and organization stakeholders.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The Jam exists to help teens grow in their passion for music, their spirit of creativity, and their value of self.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Required skills: A positive attitude, a heart for music and youth, and a love for creating. A background in computer technology and/or basic web design is preferred.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer During this project, the student will: -Apply their knowledge in a setting which allows them to give back to the community -Experience the dynamics of a start-up organization while exploring their own entrepreneurial spirit -Leverage the web-design tools provided by The Jam to inspire growth in their related coursework at UWEC.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer The student must be able to commit to 30 hours of work between the project start and end date. The student may work at any desired location and at any time which is convenient to them. The student must be available to communicate with the project supervisor at reasonable intervals during the project.

Answer Several specific desired components and goals of the web page will be communicated to the student; however, the student is welcome and encouraged to provide input and suggestions based on their own expertise.
