Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The Jam is a life-giving music community for at-risk teens in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The Jam programming equips students to engage in positive community at a social level through music through engagement with local artists and hands-on jam sessions in an encouraging and uplifting environment. This project involves the development and launch of a web outreach strategy to engage youth in The Jam virtually.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer At The Jam, we want teens to grow in their passion for music, their spirit of creativity, and their value of self.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Required skills: A positive attitude, a heart for youth, and interest in web outreach techniques. Beneficial: A technological background with basic working knowledge of social platforms and their ability to interact with one another.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer During this project, the student will: -Apply their knowledge of web communication capabilities in a setting which allows them to benefit isolated youth in the community. -Experience the dynamics of a project start-up while exploring their own entrepreneurial spirit -Learn how community can be established in diversity, and witness the importance of community art and inter-organisational collaboration to ennoble and unify people


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer The student must be able to commit to 30 hours of work between the project start and end date (at a location of their convenience). The student must be available to communicate with the project supervisor at reasonable intervals during the project.

Answer There are additional opportunities inside the organization, including, but not limited to: photography and videography, event organization, audio recording, post production, as well as Jam facilitation support staff, working directly with the youth on Jam nights in a musical and relational capacity.
