Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Work with the Tandem Mentorship Program through becoming a guitar mentor for youth facing adversity in the Chippewa Valley. Tandem's goal is to meet physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and academic needs amongst youth. One of the ways we seek out this goal is through one-to-one music mentoring.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of Tandem Mentoring is to share life-changing hope with youth facing adversity in our community by pairing youth ages 11-18 with a Christ-centered mentor. We support our mentors with training and a place for mentors and students to develop a trusting relationship while building a new desired skill set.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Be able to play and teach basic guitar skills; have an uplifting, empowering and positive attitude. Be able to commit to weekly (1hour) lessons. Be capable of following a set curriculum given to you.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer •Gain experience teaching music skills •Working in a professional capacity to empower and teach a youth •Learning to set attainable goals and plan for success with student •Increase awareness of youth living in the Chippewa Valley •Develop leadership skills, responsibility and communication skills


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer The schedule is set up for guitar lessons on Tuesdays from 7-8pm each week.

Answer This position is open September, however we take interested guitar mentors at any time as our program is ran throughout the whole school year. COVID Guidelines: Interns and youth are required to wear a mask and social distance 6 feet apart for all lessons. Lessons will be conducted in appropriate open spaces to help with social distancing requirements. If feasible, we will consider moving lessons to a virtual platform if conducive for both parties
