Service-Learning Proposal Description

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Tandem has weekly events called Tandem Tuesdays where we build community with the youth and mentors a part of our program, as well with youth that are visiting through games, dinner, support groups, and fun. Many teens want to join, but they are unable to because of their need for a ride. We are looking for caring adults (must be 19 or older) that are interested in transporting teens to our event that starts at 5pm every Tuesday.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Tandem empowers youth to pursue their potential by receiving Christ’s love through Mentorship and guidance.

What skills are required for this project?

Answer A heart for youth, clean driving record, and your driving license of course :)

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer You'll be developing awareness and gaining a deeper understanding of the youth in our community facing adversity. Some of the adversities that the youth are facing include having a lower socioeconomic status, parents incarcerated, alcohol and drug abuse, and peer pressure. You'll be able to build relationships with these youth through the car rides that are given. You are welcome to stay for the event if you'd like to help that relationship grow deeper.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Every Tuesday from 4-5pm. If you'd like to stay for the event you can from 5-7pm and give rides after from 7-8pm. Whatever works within your schedule!

Additional information (not required).

Answer Please visit to sign up today! We have other volunteer options as well, such as mentoring, teaching guitar basics, providing a meal for our group events, or any behind the scenes roles.
