Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Students will serve as a teaching apprentice in my course, PHYS 291: Computational Physics. Duties will include holding office hours and overseeing a class Discord server where students can have discussions and ask questions.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer To teach physics to students of UW Eau Claire, conduct research, and support scientific interests in the greater Chippewa Valley.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Computer programming (Python), communication, and teaching skills.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Students will gain experience in teaching other students how to program, as well as class management skills.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Student must hold two office hours a week and check on Discord server for open questions and discussion at least once daily.
