Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The Jam is a life-giving music community for at-risk teens in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The Jam programming equips students to engage in positive community at a social level through music through engagement with local artists and hands-on jam sessions in an encouraging and uplifting environment. This project involves the execution and improvement of The Jam's social media strategy.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The Jam's mission is to help teens grow in their passion for music, their spirit of creativity, and their value of self.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Required skills: A positive attitude, a heart for music and youth, and a love for creating. Strong written communication skills, an eye for aesthetics, and experience with popular social-media platforms would be beneficial.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer During this project, the student will: -Apply their multimedia and communications knowledge in a setting which allows them to give back to the community -Experience the dynamics of a start-up organization while exploring their own entrepreneurial spirit


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer The student must be able to commit to 15 hours of work between the project start and end date (at a location of their convenience). The student must be available to communicate with the project supervisor at reasonable intervals during the project.

Answer There are additional opportunities inside the organization, including, but not limited to: photography and videography, event organization, audio recording, post production, as well as Jam facilitation support staff, working directly with the youth on Jam nights in a musical and relational capacity.
