Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The free clinic offers free medical care to communities members through volunteerism. We are in need a clinic receptionist to join us in assisting the uninsured and underinsured in our community Tasks involve prep charts for clinic • Enter client data into an EMR software •answering the phones • Assist Office Manager or Clinic Director as needed.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic is to provide quality health care and advocacy for individuals of the Chippewa Valley who have no reasonable health care alternative.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer We are looking for an organized, welcoming person to work in collaboration with another receptionist and the medical team to process clients during clinic hours. Clinic can be fast paced and multi-tasking skills and good interpersonal skills are a must.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer The student will experience a clinical setting, interact with the medical team, and get hands on experience with an EMR system, among other skills.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Clinic is held Tuesday evening (4 pm-9 pm) and the 1st and 3rd Thursday morning (9 am - 1 pm) of the month. Receptionist seldom stay to the very end but it is at the discretion of the Clinical Director during each clinic. We would like a candidate to work one or two shifts per month but schedules are flexible.

Answer Proof of vaccination required. A one year commitment required to keep training new volunteers to a minimum.
