Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community to be addressed.
Answer Searching for an Intern who can assist in organizing the distribution of literature, or helping to organize an event. They will also help in updating and maintaining a social media marketing tools. Data entry and updating member information.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?
Answer To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.


What skills are required for this project?
Answer Must be able to work independantly, be able to communicate information and retrieve information needed to complete tasks. Computer skills. Creative, Outgoing personality. Able to meet and greet the public.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?
Answer This internship will get a look at the "ground floor" of running a Special Olympic Agency. They will get experience and learn how to provied Customer Service to members and the general public. Along with developing strategies and skills for event planning, data entry and marketing.


What are the availability requirements for the student?
Answer Flexible hours. Will work around schedule.


Additional information (not required).
Answer Intern can work from their own home or school dorm. Occasional face-to-face meetings and phone conferencing. Although this is an unpaid Intership Volunteers will be treated well and get perks.
