Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Help develop Empower Eau Claire project ideas. You will help the public and strengthen project ideas that are submitted as part of the participatory budgeting process. Empower Eau Claire is a democratic process in which residents provide project ideas and vote on the best projects that serve the community. Residents are able to directly decide on how to spend $300,000 of the City's budget under this participatory budgeting program, the first of its kind in Wisconsin.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer It is our mission to assure the common good through services essential for a safe, sustainable, engaged and healthy community.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Represent community voice, passionate about projects, works well in a committee format, eye for detail: research and evaluate, connect with stakeholders, write final proposals for the ballot


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Research and refine ideas into concrete proposals, work in issue committees, ensure projects meet the criteria of the program, make recommendations to the Steering Committee for the final ballot


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer 15-30 total hours helping to refine project ideas. Dates and times to be determined. Training will occur in November/December. Training dates and times will be determined based on volunteer availability.
