Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer During the school year, bingo is held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on occasional Saturday nights from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. Help is needed to run a concession stand, help sell bingo cards, and count money. The proceeds from this fundraiser help support Catholic Charities, Sojourner House, and various other non-profit facilities in the community.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of Sacred Heart/Saint Patrick's Catholic Church is to give people who are dedicated to serving our neighbors and community through our ministry of social justice the financial support they need to help others.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Skills required for this project are to be able to count money and to have basic math skills. Communication skills should be used in an appropriate way and problem solving skills would also be utilized.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer The objectives for the person helping during the evening would be that positive comments and positive interactions with people of all ages and intellectual abilities would occur.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Availability requirements are from 4 pm to 9 pm on scheduled Saturday nights. Here are the nights that bingo is scheduled for the 2023-2024 school year: 2023: September 16, September 30, October 14, October 28, November 11, December 9 2024: January 6, January 20, February 3, February 17, March 2, March 16, April 13, April 27, May 11

Answer This is a low key social event that families from all walks of life come to. This event is held on the lower level of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church which is at 416 N. Dewey Street, Eau Claire, close to Phoenix Park.
