Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The International Poetry Reading night is an annual campus event that celebrates language and cultural diversity through poetry reading. Poetry will be read in different languages (other than modern standard English) by faculty and staff, students and community members in the Blugold family. The organizers are Dr. Kaishan Kong (Languages Department) and Josh Bauer (LTS). We would like to have recruit one student to provide support in organizing the 2022 event.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer This event is jointly supported by the Center for International Education, the UWEC Foundation, and the Departments of Languages and English. The mission of the event is to celebrate language and culture diversity, as well as create an inclusive campus.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer o Strong verbal and written communication in English o Organizational skills o Time management o Attention to details o Independent and teamwork skills


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer o Will support the 2022 event in various aspects, such as communicating with poetry readers and providing onsite support o Will develop multiple skills in communication and organization


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer During the event preparation time, a lot of the work will be done online and via emails. However, the student needs to be available during the event: 6-8 pm, Wednesday, April 20th, 2022.
