Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Junior Achievement is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing young people the knowledge and skills they need to owner their economic success, plan for the future and make smart academic and economic choices.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer To ensure that every childe in Wisconsin has the opportunity to obtain an understanding of the free enterprise system.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer No experience necessary. JA staff will train and provide all the materials necessary for a successful classroom experience impacting area youth.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer To teach area youth about financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work readiness skills. Volunteers are also asked to share their life experiences with students in the classroom.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Availability is determined on what classrooms need a JA volunteer to present Junior Achievement curriculum to students. Most classes last less than one hour per week for 5-6 lessons.

Additional information (not required).

Answer There are volunteer opportunities for 2nd through 12 grade levels. Students from all majors would make exceptional classroom volunteers.
