Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The Eau Claire Marathon is a community driven race that brings together runners and fans from all over to Eau Claire, WI. This includes the Blugold Mile. There are many areas of need to pull off this popular event, including packet pick-up, traffic control, and helping the athletes stay safe durning the event. Some positions can occur well before the race, but a majority of the help is needed Friday-Monday of marathon weekend April 27th-May 1

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of the Eau Claire Marathon is to provide a world-class race in Eau Claire, promoting the livability and community spirit of the city.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer No special skills are needed for most positions (but some positions could include photography and videoing skills)

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer The outcomes that have typically come out of this activity are the expanded awareness that accompanies volunteering. The sense that you have helped others accomplish their goals through your efforts is one of the more common outcomes cited by students in the past.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Students have the ability to sign up for the volunteer tasks that best fit their skills and time commitments. The tasks will center on the marathon weekend.
