Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Blugolds for Better is a long-term project that allows students to serve multiple organizations in the community, strengthen their knowledge of the local community needs, and find opportunities for future volunteer opportunities. Students will visit various non-profit organizations and assist the organization with any needs, including, but not limited too, cleaning, administrative work, food prep and serving, and creating connections with the individuals served by the organization.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Blugolds for Better connects students of UW-Eau Claire to Chippewa Valley volunteer opportunities and gives each students a rewarding experience while also helping the organization they are serving.


What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Students must be able to walk, bend, lift, and also be able to sit for long periods of time. No other skills are required.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Students who participate in Blugolds for Better will learn about many different volunteer opportunities that are in the Chippewa Valley. They will gain knowledge on each of the organizations and understand the need of the various organizations we visit.


What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Blugolds for Better is scheduled for one Friday a month during the semester. Programs usually run from 12:30 – 4:30 but some times may vary. Students must complete a total of 15 or 30 hours of time with Blugolds for Better during their time on campus to qualify for their service learning.
