Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Building Bridges is an afterschool program for youth in the Greater Chippewa Valley Area. We focus on offering lessons, activities, and mentors to help youth build connections with their safety, belonging, and growth in mind. Assistants will help the Youth Coordinator set up for the weekly meetings and gather materials for the program.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Building Bridges' mission is to provide a safe space, sense of belonging, and environment for growth creating opportunities and experiences to help empower and connect our youth to create a brighter future.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Students will need to be flexible and open to help in any way for the program.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Students will learn how to plan and prepare for a program.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Students can help prepare for the weekly meetings and can even help out during the meetings on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30. Preparing for the meeting can be done any day of the week and any time from 8 am - 5 pm preferably on the same day a few hours before.

Answer Building Bridges is run by the Youth Coordinator and another ECAHMAA Staff and currently there are 25-30 students who participate in the program.
