Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer To allow students who are a part of the Hmong Living Community to engage in event planning, partnerships and educational learning of the culture beyond the dorms and into the campus and community. This project will allow students to engage in a series of cultural learning while getting a better glimpse at what community means to those who identify as Hmong.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The Hmong Living Community's mission is to create a space for those who are interested in the Hmong culture to learn, grow and build community amongst them. This can be done in partnership with community engagement, campus engagement and event planning.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer A student must be part of the Hmong Living Community and taking part in a community engagement activity. Student should be ready to engage community conversations, team meetings and organizational skills to implement events.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer The student will have experience in formulating collaborative skills with partners across the community and within the organization to create events that showcase the Hmong Culture. The student will be able to take away knowledge of Hmong traditional games, activities and cultural learning.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer The student must be available to attend all committee team meetings and be available the day of the event to facilitate.
