Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The Chippewa Strikers Soccer Club is looking for some people ready to make a positive impact in the lives of several youth athletes as a team coach and/or assistant coach. Teams are set and ready to get started. Enjoy watching a group of eager soccer players grow together as a team and become good friends all under your tutelage.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all youth soccer players to participate in competitive soccer games throughout the area. All athletes will be welcomed into the club regardless of ethnicity, nationality, gender, race, religion, age or sexual orientation.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Patience, ability to communicate effectively, work well with children, understand the basics of team sports(ideally soccer), have strong leadership qualities, and be able to work with others.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Objectives would be to formulate skills based practices, educate team players of the game of soccer, assist players become better with their own skills, direct a team during matches, and be a positive influence.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Need to be available on weekends, mainly Saturdays, in mid spring and early fall for games. Be available 1 to 2 times during the week for practices. Games are typically scheduled between 8am and 5pm. Practices are scheduled by the coach at times and dates that are convenient to their personal schedule.

Answer Great and rewarding opportunity for anyone interested in making a difference in a child's life. Coaches not only teach a sport, but become role models. Our teams and their families have appreciated our coaches to the point that they treat a coach as a member of their families. Our club encourages coaches to enroll in training and licensing. The club covers any expense for the training and licensing.
