Service-Learning Proposal Description


Briefly describe the project and the community to be addressed.
Answer Each spring the YMCA hosts its annual Father Daughter Dance. As always, it will be a special event for both the daughters and fathers who attend, forming cherished memories that will last a lifetime! This family event brings in anywhere from two to three hundred attendees each year.


What is the mission of the agency or organization?
Answer The Eau Claire YMCA is a community-centered association dedicated to building a healthy mind, body, and spirit for all while maintaining an emphasis on youth.


What skills are required for this project?
Answer Volunteers must enjoy working with children, exhibit leadership characteristics, be deadline orientated, and be able to work effectively as members of a team.


What are the objectives for the student learning and service?
Answer Students will work alongside the Eau Claire YMCA’s Youth Development Coordinator to plan, set up, and execute Monster Bash 2017. Service time will include event setup, working alongside other volunteers and volunteer leaders, interacting with community members, leading activities/games/stations within the event, and event tear down.


What are the availability requirements for the student?
Answer Students must be available intermittently throughout the week leading up to the Father Daughter Dance (April 28th-May 5th 2018) to assist with any prep needed (exact times will be coordinated based on student’s schedule). Students must also be available Saturday, May 5th from 3:30pm to approximately 10:00pm in order to set up, execute, and tear down the event.
