Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer We are in constant need of updated biographies for our adoptable cats. We are in need of someone to come in, spend time with our adoptable cats, and write short biographies about their personalities for their adoption profiles. Cats are able to get adopted quicker if they have something written up about them, but a lot of times, the office staff here only have time to get them all posted without biographies.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The Chippewa Humane Association, also known as the Howard Gibbs Memorial Animal Shelter, seeks to relieve the suffering of homeless companion animals. By setting an example of excellence in animal care and placement, humane education, and community leadership, we can successfully emphasize their importance.

3.

What skills are required for this project?

Answer The ability to write grammatically correct biographies for our adoptable cats.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Practice your writing and creativity skills. Provides hands-on experience for the student to provide a portfolio building piece for a non-profit organization.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer We can work with most schedules. Afternoons work best for us, as we have volunteers/staff cleaning in the mornings.
