Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Foster parents open their homes and their hearts to hurting and vulnerable children. Our program seeks to provide support to foster parents and the kids in their care to decrease stress and increase stability. Support varies based on the needs of the family and your interests but may include things like childcare, tutoring, mentoring, light housekeeping, providing a meal or transportation. Volunteers may also work with area churches for events or group projects.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Our goal is to strengthen families through partnerships with Christians to reach out with encouragement, support, and the gospel.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Compassion. Reliability. A willingness to use your unique gifts and abilities in service to others. The ability to maintain confidentiality.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer To build awareness of and compassion for the needs of foster parents and the children in their care.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Availability varies. If providing direct support to a foster family, we ask that volunteers connect at least twice each month.
