Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Removing Buckthorn from Putnam Park. Buckthorn is an invasive species that causes or have the potential to cause significant environmental or economic harm or harm to human health.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of The Outdoor Adventure LLC is to enjoy nature for the recreational activates but also spread awareness of our Environment.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer This project does not require specific gardening skills. You will be working with saws/pruners, trash bags, safety glasses, and chemical treatment for the stumps. You will be outside and standing for an extended period.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer The objectives will be to contribute and learn about the wellness of our local environment.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Thursday October 18th- night session for buckthorn removal and information. Saturday Oct. 21st from 9-3 and Saturday Oct. 28th from 9-1 to remove the buckthorn. After the 28th session we will do a discussion to close out the project.
