Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer YMCA events provide children and their grown-ups with the opportunity to celebrate holidays and have fun while being physically active.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of the YMCA of the Chippewa Valley is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that strengthen spirit, mind, and body for all.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Must be friendly, outgoing, like kids, and be comfortable enforcing rules.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer - Gain experience working with children - Learn about some of the ways the YMCA serves the community - Practice leadership skills, assertiveness, and good customer service

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Students can chose to volunteer for any of the following events: 1) October 27, 4:45-9 PM - Halloween Party at the L.E. Phillips YMCA Sports Center. 2) November 22, 1:30-6:00 PM - Turkey Trot Packet Pickup at the Eau Claire YMCA. 3) November 23, times vary but between 6-11:30 AM - Turkey Trot at the Eau Claire YMCA. 4) December 20, 4:45-9 PM - New Year's Event at the L.E. Phillips YMCA Sports Center. 5) April 7, 10:45 AM-3:30 PM - Kids Expo at the L.E. Phillips YMCA Sports Center. 6) Other events will be added throughout the year.
