Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer In December of 2022, Catholic Charities in Eau Claire and La Crosse noticed a need in our community. Moms and babies were without or very low on supplies such as soap, baby clothes, blankets, diapers, wipes, and more. After seeing the need, we took action and created our free GRACE Community Bags that contain these items. Anyone can receive our bags, not just those practicing in the Catholic faith. We distribute these bags on Mondays from 9-noon at 318 Fulton Street, Eau Claire, WI.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer At Catholic Charities, we strive to help our community. We are an adoption and pregnancy support non-profit organization who is under the leadership of the Catholic Church.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer We require that you are comfortable and able to lift up to 25 pounds and able to use the stairs. We also require that you are comfortable communicating with different members of the community.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer To learn how to communicate with the general public who are facing financial or housing difficulties.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer We require students to be available between 8-4pm, Monday-Thursdays.
