Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Turner Farms is looking for a student volunteer to assist in general farm chores including cleaning tack, animal maintenance including feeding, watering, and worming horses, etc.

2.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of Turner Farms is to provide animals with a healthy and happy life, and teach others how to care for cows, horses, chickens and perform general farm chores.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Be able to follow instructions of the supervisor to learn how to care for various animals on the farm. No previous farming experience requires, student will be trained by supervisor on how to complete farm chores correctly.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Student will learn collaborative skills through working with members of the farm to fulfill the needs of the animals. Student will also learn about the services many local farms provide to the community.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer The program will run from November 18 to December 12, and hours will be available weekends and weekdays to work around student's schedule.

6.

Additional information (not required).

Answer Student will be able to learn teamwork, discipline, and valuable life skills through this project.
