Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer On December 27th we will host our annual New Year's Eve party from 5-8:00 with face painting, inflatables, limosine rides, ballon drop at 7:30pm and DJ entertainment. We are looking for volunteers to help provide extra supervision for our inflatables and help with set up and clean up. Between 4-8+ hrs. will be counted for volunteering hrs. for any planning help, set up, volunteer help throughout the event and tear down.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The YMCA of the Chippewa Valley comes alive to ignite the human spirit by partnering with the community and providing an environment that supports youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Through our many youth, family, and adult programs, we offer a great place where people of all ages can go to exercise their minds and bodies. Mission Statement: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Vision: We build strong kids, strong families, strong communities.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer -Creating an upbeat and positive environment for our families and kids. - Set up, help supervise event and help clean up -Ability to set and keep boundaries with kids. -HAVE FUN!

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer - Learn how the Y benefits from volunteer help to keep costs lower for our non-profit.  -Ability to create a fun and interactive environment for our families. -Activities can be catered to students major (recreational/ educational) - Skills of planning an implementation of an event

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer New Year's Eve Bash- December 27th set up 2-4:30pm, Event 5-8:00, tear down 8:00-9pm Planning and training count toward hrs
