Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer Bolton Refuge House offers a wide range of services for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. There are many different volunteer opportunities throughout Bolton.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer Bolton Refuge House, Inc. creates safe space through programs and services for all persons impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault, and advocates for social change.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer The volunteer opportunities is for anyone who wants to make a difference in their community. Required skills include empathy, compassion, ability to follow directions and a willingness do the steps necessary to complete the task.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer Volunteers will learn what it means and how it feels to give back to the community, gain new experience, build new network of contacts, enhance resume/experience, develop new skills and become part of a community. Some volunteer jobs require a valid driver’s license.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer Bolton Refuge House is open 24/7 so there are no availability requirements although, most of the volunteering is completed during daytime hours.

Answer Volunteer opportunities can include the following: Child care, cleaning, organizing, working outside (weeding, sweeping, etc.) , picking up donations, court watch.
