Service-Learning Proposal Description

1.

Briefly describe the project and the community to be addressed.
Answer The student would pick up food, for the Campus Harvest food pantry, that is delivered to the Davies Center loading dock every Tuesday between 10:30 & 11:30. The student would then deliver it over to the Campus Harvest food pantry which is located in Schofield Hall, Room 4. The student would be responsible for putting refrigerated and freezer items away in the pantry. A cart would be provided.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?
Answer To provide supplemental food options and aid to students of the university who are in need of food assistance.

3.

What skills are required for this project?
Answer Must be able to lift 40 pounds and able to push a cart full of food weighing anywhere from 100-250 pounds up hill in all types of weather.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?
Answer Student will become more aware of the food needs of our students on campus and what is involved in running a food pantry. Students will become more empathetic to students with food insecurity.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?
Answer Student must be able to work every Tuesday from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. during the school year.
