Service-Learning Proposal Description

Briefly describe the project and the community need to be addressed.

Answer The St. Croix Tribal Education Department involves the St. Croix Tribal Community through K-12 schools, language and culture, higher education, and youth programming. The St. Croix Tribal Community uses the St. Croix Education building for Community Education programming, GED learning, Higher Ed classes, summer youth programs, Youth Council, Ojibwemowin and Cultural Programs. This position would include marketing programs, greeting and welcoming guests, and organizing building use.

What is the mission of the agency or organization?

Answer The mission of the St. Croix Council is to create opportunities for all St. Croix Tribal members to lead self-sufficient and culturally strong lives, while protecting the rights and responsibilities of the St. Croix Chippewa Tribe of Wisconsin as a sovereign nation.

3.

What skills are required for this project? 

Answer Individual or Individuals who are self-sufficient, can work well with others, and help the St. Croix Tribal Education Department to maintain our objectives within the community.

4.

What are the objectives for the student learning and service?

Answer One of the important elements for student learning is maintaining college retention. St. Croix Tribal Education continues to involve students in positive relationship that keep students in their college journey and create career opportunities and leadership experience.

5.

What are the availability requirements for the student?

Answer TBD but available for both fall and spring semesters as well as summer learning. Must be flexible and willing to learn.
